A brief report on the
proceedings of the National Convention
of Central Government Pensioners held
under the auspices of NCCPA
on 31st July 2015 at Hyderabad
The
National Convention of Central Government pensioners held under the auspices of
NCCPA and hosted by Telangana State Pensioners
and Retired Persons’ Association in Sundarayya Vignana Kendra at
Hyderabad was presided over by Com. Daktod, leader of C.G.P.A. Nagpur. Com.
Prabhakaran Nair of the host organization welcomed the august gathering. Large number
of delegates representing various affiliates from different states participated
in the convention Twenty Six delegates representing CGPA, Kerala and some
delegates of affiliate organizations from Kerala attended the convention.

A.K.Padmanabhan, President, C.I.T.U, in his inaugural address dwelt at length
on the Contemporary, National and international issues and their adverse impact
on working class including pensioners and other senior citizens in lucid and erudite
manner.
Com.
Sivagopal Mishra the Secretary, Staff, JCM and Patron of NCCPA in his special
address mentioned the important issues before the 7th CPC and
impressed upon the employees the imperative need to go on strike from 23rd
November. He categorically warned the government that indefinite strike would
be preponed without notice if the Government attempts to implement the
privatization of Railways as per the recommendations of Dr. Bibek Deroy
Committee.
Com. Pathak, President of AIDEF, Com. K.K.N.Kutty, President of
Confederation of Central Government Employees & Workers narrated the issues
before the Central Government Employees and Pensioners. They exposed the policy
of the Government supporting the Corporate and Multi National Companies. They
called upon the pensioners to ensure grass-root unity and to support the
struggles of the Central Government employees and the working class to defeat
the machinations of the Government. Com. Pabitra Ranjan Chakraborty, the Acting
Secretary General of NCCPA presented the draft declaration of the Convention,
and two resolutions expressing solidarity with the general strike of workers
called by 11 central Trade Unions as well as federations and indefinite strike
of Central Government employees on 23rd November 2015, and the second
on expanding and strengthening of CGHS.
In
the afternoon session, Com. K.G.Jayarajan (General Secretary, AIBDPA), P.S.Nair
(General Secretary, Para-Military Pensioners’ Association) and K.Raghavendran
(General Secretary, AIPRPA) also addressed the Convention. Representatives of
the various affiliates, including the General Secretary, CGPA, Kerala,
enthusiastically participated in the discussions. The Acting Secretary General
summed up the discussions and in the light of this, the Draft Declaration and
resolutions with improvement suggested were unanimously adopted. The Convention
came to a conclusion by 08:30 p.m. after the vote of thanks proposed by Com.
